Practices to have on your mind…

In addition to the safety precautions (access to HV enclosures and work on HV electrical equipment) the following general safety practices should be ALWAYS observed for work on electrical equipment.

1. Check before Act

The scope of work and relevant circuit should be checked before starting any electrical work. Suitable lighting and adequate illumination should be provided for the workplace.

The condition of tools and instruments should also be checked before carrying out electrical work.


2. Isolate and Lockout

The circuit / equipment under maintenance should be isolated as far as practicable. The relevant isolator should be locked out. A suitable warning notice should be placed close to the isolator.


3. De-energize

The circuit/equipment to be worked on should be checked to ensure that it is dead.


4. Others Practices

  1. The workplace should be kept clean and tidy.
  2. Keep hands away from any circuit or equipment that are not working on (VERY IMPORTANT)
  3. Unauthorized people should not stay in the work place.
  4. The requirements stated in procedures and check lists should be followed.

    I hope , by the grace of God now I got the right way to fulfill my dreams. I have done several short term courses (3 months ,6 months, 1 year,2 year duration) in Electrical , Electronics engineering . With more than 16 years practical experience in different work places I reached several achievements due to my willingness in quality works as well as hungry to learn more. My simple request to you, if possible please show me a way to get Degree/ Diploma level ( govt approved ) certificate, by proper examination procedure. I just want to attend this level of examination. If possible please suggest me , I will really so glad by your kind support/ help. Please treat it as my simple request.

    It is really very useful requiremens to energize any HV / LV panels.

    A further interesting measure is to check if the voltage transformers secondary circuts are open and isolated and the current transformers secondary circuits are shortcircuited.
    When checking terminal blocks always use a high voltage insulation glove. Even if you know the schematics very well.

      Thanks for noticing, typo is fixed! All videos you can find at EEP are embedded from Youtube. There is no way to watch videos than from its source.

      By the way, what do you mean by ‘Youtube is not accessible to me’?
