Electrical tools (MS Excel Spreadsheets)
This section is dedicated to tools every electrical engineer can use in daily work. These spreadsheets below will make your job much more easier, alowing you to shorten the time used for endless calculations of cables, voltage drop, various selections of circuit breakers, capacitors, cable size and so on.

Spreadsheets are mostly developed by expirienced electrical engineers and programmers (thank you mr. Jignesh Parmar!) and by well known manufacturers of electrical equipment. They all really did an awesome job, you must admit!

Can you please help in my one project ..I have some doubts on distribution system i.e. hvds and lvds
I think lvds is better than hvds in suburban areas because of large no’s of consumers

I just love your web site and for a old guy who does estimates and take offs its a great tool. I do have a request. I am being asked by the local AHJ to provide him with a Calc. sheet for a commercial office building where were are replacing (Like as Like) the old FPE panels w/ new updated Sq D. No cables or breakers or circuits are being changed. Just a replacement panel for the old Fed Pacific. He now wants me to do a “load” calc sheet for each office unit, each Panel. Do you have a excel sheet for this Commercial Application? Something simple and easy. The resi one wont work here. Thanks

As an AHJ myself, I wonder why he needs a load calc. Are you sure that he didn’t ask for a fault current analysis instead since the older FPE panels didn’t have an AIC rating, so they default to 5kA per the NEC. The new Square D panels would need to be either fully rated for the calculate fault currents at the panel replacement locations or series rated, assuming your local AHJ allows series ratings.
Sorry about the typos above. My cat jumped on my keyboard.
BTW – Replacing a panel with another panel isn’t a like for like replacement, especially for older panels because of the lack of a fault current rating.

11kV HT incomer feeder setting: I>>>=INF., I>>=2.5, TI>>=0.65s, IP=0.8, TP=0.25s, IE>>=0.25, TIE>>=0.65s, TEP=0.4s, IEP=0.1
11kV HT outgoing feeder setting: I>>>=INF., I>>=3.0, TI>>=0.3s, IP= 1.0, TP=0.3s, IE>>=0.31, TIE>>=0.15s, TEP=0.1s, IEP=0.1
With above settings, can anybody suggest why incomer feeder tripped during outgoing feeder cable fault ?

They are so helpful. Can you please make one for vector group calculations. It must be able to draw the grouping as you put the figures on the spreadsheet.
