Three Phase and Single Phase Motor

IEC Motor Data Calculator is based on the NEC 2011.

For three-phase motor according to inputs (Voltage and Horse Power) and TeSys U Self-Protected Starters selection table following motor data is calculated:

1. Full Load Amps (FLA)
2. Wire Size
3. Time-Delay Fuse Rating (Amps)
4. PowerPact MCP Size (Amps)
5. IEC Contactor Cat #
6. IEC Overload Relay Cat #

For single-phase motor input is Horse Power and following information is calculated for both voltages 115V and 230V:

1. Full Load Amps (FLA)
2. Wire Size
3. Time-Delay Fuse Rating (Amps)
4. PowerPact Breaker Size (Amps)
5. IEC Contactor Cat #
6. IEC Overload Relay Cat #

Wire and Conduit Data

Wire Size AWG/kcmil selection is based on Appendix C – Tables C1 and C1A for copper and alluminium.

Ampacity of conductors based on 30 C ambient. Conduit sizes for aluminum based on the use of compact conductors. Where a major portion of the load consists of nonlinear loads, the neutral is considered to be current carrying.

On 4-wire applications, derate the ampacity to 80% per note 8 and note 10© of the NEC ampacity tables.
