I have a question about brightness level. If I have a fixture with a single bulb producing 400 lumens. Would replacing it with a fixture containing two 400 bulbs increase the brightness or am I just maintaining the same 400 lumens of brightness and obtaining greater dispersion because of the two bulbs.

    Sir,
Please provide me technical help related to “Lighting lumen calculation sheet” that if we taken different types of fixture & lamp, Then how can we calculate lumen output and no of fixtuer & lamp as per give dimension & desire lux level.
    Thanks.

Has anyone found a reliable inverse square law for lighting that works well in excel? I am trying to find one to use with Physical Security applications.
My scenario changes with each application but in general, I have a light fixture that produces “X” Lux or FC’s. I have an object that is “X” feet away from the light source. I use the inverse square law to identify the lux rating at the target object. I now have a new “source” because I am reversing distance to go back to a CCTV camera using the reflectance of the original source off of the object at the farthest point. Working the formula back and allowing for some loss at my new source object (where it doesn’t reflect 100% of what it received) I can look at a spec sheet and know whether or not the CCTV camera: A) has enough light to stay in color or black and white B) if the light levels are too low C) what the delta is for the lighting specialist to add illumination so that the camera operates as desired.

Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated… – Chuck

There are many of them available on the internet. On EEP you can find very good lighting software CalcuLuX Area, DiaLUX, Relux and others. They all have 2D and 3D preview of project, and they are also free.

Take a look at page with electrical software:

    Best regards

The WorkSheet is usefull but may i know is there any other tools which can let me see the outcome in terms of 2D or 3D view ?
