– Profile –

Muhammad Kashif Shamshad is an Electrical Engineer and has more than 17 years of experience in Project Management, operation & maintenance, erection, testing, and commissioning of Power Plant, GIS, and AIS high voltage substations ranging up to 500 kV –he has more than 10 year’s experience is with Siemens Saudi Arabia.

He completed over 20 high voltage substation projects, Project Management, Operation & Maintenance of Substation & Power plants in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia for different electric utilities including Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Marafiq, National Transmission & Dispatch Company (NTDC), WAPDA, and K-Electric.

Besides, he led testing and commissioning teams to implement electrical infrastructure projects for many types of industrial clients (Steel, Petrochemical, etc.) in both countries, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Kashif possesses strong Project Management and technical skills in substation, automation system, design, testing, and commissioning of power generation, high voltage GIS/AIS Switchgear, Protection Relays, Protection, and Control Schemes, Automation System, etc.

As a protection and control, testing, and commissioning engineer, he participated and conducted much technical training internationally.

Worked on the 380/110/11kV Substation Jeddah Central turnkey project of Saudi Electricity Company in Western Region (Worth 419 million SR ).Worked on the 380/110/11kV Substation

Senior Project Engineer Technical (2 yrs) – Project worth was 419 million SR, I was responsible for technical & project management support to PM. My involvement in the project was right from the start, and we followed all steps described below.

  • Provide technical support and supervise works by engineering aides and coordinate with external & internal consortium partners.
  • Ensure proper execution of testing & commissioning jobs by sub-contractors for upgrades and new projects.
  • Test & commission substation equipment of energized/existing substations, protection relays and auto & power transformers.
  • Manage contract administration, schedule coordination, quality control including supervision of tests and field decisions for utility construction projects achieving targeted results.
  • Advise other departments on all engineering matters
  • Prepare, review & edit project-related reports.
  • Study documents/drawings for new & upgrade projects and provide required technical comments.

  • Plan overall schedule of testing and commissioning activities in coordination with project management team & submit to client/consultant for further approval to achieve the target.
  • Plan, implement & supervise the weekly schedule of testing & commissioning activities as per Overall all schedules.
  • Support, supervise & guide the Testing & Commissioning Engineers.
  • Attend weekly progress meetings with client/consultants/ project management and sub-contractor regarding technical and management issues.
  • Supervise installation & Erection work readiness to start commissioning activities.
  • Supervise cable termination work and modify termination work if required.
  • Review/Revise schedules, IFC drawings, Protection Schemes, Interlocks, test formats of main & auxiliary relays, Stability/Sensitivity of Bus Bar, TEE protection, Transformers & Reactors and modify (if required) as per client requirements, standard & Specification.
  • Command on fault analysis & troubleshooting to overcome the Substation Problems before & after Energization.
