Electrical Panel Design in EPLAN: Setting Up NFPA Project and Circuit Diagrams

Learn to set up your EPLAN project so you can work and create circuit diagrams according to the NFPA standard. 11 lessons in 1h 22m total course length.

Course Description

DISCLAIMER: Please note that this is not an official EPLAN course. For official training and certification and the purchase of EPLAN software, contact the software manufacturer.

In this course, we cover the setup of the EPLAN project so that you can create circuit diagrams according to the NFPA standard.

By the end of the course, you will be able to add pages and manage plot frames and grid sizes to create professional NFPA style ePLAN circuit diagrams. We will finish up the course by creating a direct-on-line (DOL) motor starter power circuit diagram.

What you’ll learn:

  1. All you need to know to be able to work in EPLAN acc. to the NFPA standard
  2. Create an EPLAN project using a correct NFPA project template (not intuitive)
  3. Add pages and compare the differences between an IEC and an NFPA style ePLAN project
  4. Manage plot frame inside your EPLAN project
  5. Manage grid settings – inch vs mm setting (very important)
  6. Change grid settings and displayed units of measure when working both on NFPA and IEC style ePLAN projects
  7. Which symbol libraries are used when working acc. to the NFPA standard in ePLAN
  8. About page types and where they are used: General info
  9. Essentials about a background of a plot frame in ePLAN (add project properties, learn about rows, add company’s logo)
  10. To draw basic circuit diagram (DOL motor starter power circuit) acc. to NFPA standard (horizontal fashion)
  11. Recapitulation on grid sizes: Every grid size has its purpose in an NFPA style ePLAN project
  12. Definition of forms in EPLAN

Course Summary

  1. All you need to know to be able to work in ePLAN acc. to the NFPA standard
  2. Add pages and compare the differences between an IEC and an NFPA style ePLAN project
  3. Grid setting pro tip – when working on both NFPA and IEC style projects
  4. First schematics – 3ph motor power circuit diagram
